Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing ministry. Habitat for Humanity's goal is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness. Local volunteer opportunities are available. There are also a variety of United States and international volunteer programs.

Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Programs:
Habitat for Humanity volunteer programs include the Global Village Program, Women Build, Youth Programs, the International Volunteer Program (spend 3 to 24 months living and working abroad), and Habitat AmeriCorps/VISTA.

Habitat for Humanity Costs / Benefits:
There is a fee to participate in some of the overseas volunteer programs. For example, international Global Village Program volunteers are required to pay for costs associated with living abroad, including medical insurance, housing, food. and travel.

Stipends and educational awards are available for Habitat AmeriCorps/VISTA volunteers. Check with the program you're interested in for details. You will need a resume to apply for some programs.
